Build a Roblox Obby in Roblox Studio
Use the official Roblox obby guide, the starter template, and our real build process to create a classroom-friendly Roblox Studio project.
Start with Roblox’s beginner obby lesson.
Use the starter build as your base project.
What This Guide Includes
This guide combines the official Roblox Studio obby tutorials with our real build process. We started with the Roblox obby starter template and began expanding it with working systems like checkpoints, stage tracking, and music-themed zones.
This project is designed for beginners, teachers, and students. Some learners may only build visually in Roblox Studio, while others may extend the game with scripting.
This project separates content creation from system creation.
Students can build the level visually in Roblox Studio, while reusable scripts handle checkpoints, respawns, triggers, and other game systems.
What We’ve Built So Far
Students Can Build Without Coding
Scripting Handles the Logic
Begin with the official Roblox obby lesson to learn the basic build process in Roblox Studio.
We used the starter template to get a working level and checkpoint layout quickly.
We organized the project so building happens in Studio and reusable systems are easier to manage.
Use Rojo to connect Microsoft VS to Robolox Studio to write code instead of in Roblox Studio.
Using Roblox script editor.
Customize the workspace.
We added invisible trigger parts and matched them to sounds in SoundService for themed song sections.
We tested each system one at a time and used Output, naming, and folder structure to troubleshoot issues.
Next Steps
Basic parts are an excellent start for building in the 3D space, but Studio offers many additional features to create environments in your experiences.
