Preparation

Before participants begin

Cut sample floss lengths and prepare visual knot instructions. Make a few partially completed examples learners can examine closely.

Use age-appropriate scissors and keep long cords organized to prevent tangles or tripping.

Build Guide

Follow the steps

Test as you build. Small revisions are part of the process and help participants understand why the final design works.

1. Plan and prepare

Choose two to four colors and cut equal lengths of floss.

2. Build the foundation

Tie the strands together, leaving a tail, and secure the knot to the table or a clipboard.

3. Add the main feature

Arrange the colors in the intended order and practice one forward or backward knot.

4. Test and adjust

Repeat the knot sequence across the strands, keeping the tension even.

5. Finish and reflect

Continue until the bracelet fits, then tie the ending knot and trim the extra floss.
